Double Duty: Toners as Aqua Peel Solutions

Double Duty: Toners as Aqua Peel Solutions

Many of the ingredients in some of the most popular hydrodermabrasion solutions resemble those in Korean toners. That got us thinking and researching--what if we used a diluted form of a toner as the peeling solution in our Hydro Cool? There-ya-go, that's how some of our toners became part of our hydroderm protocols.  Here are our 3 go-tos:.

One important note, first, though: always follow the manufacturers' guidelines and never put something in the peeling container that isn't the consistency of water.

Solution 1.) CLEANSE Fau's SOS Toner: Containing ascorbic acid, tea tree extract, and (the first ingredient listed) centella asiatica, this soothing solution coupled with the vortex suction of hydroderm creates the perfect canvas for the rest of the treatment. Mix 1:3 toner to distilled water. Approx. backbar cost: $3

Solution 2.) EXFOLIATE Zena's Toner: Lactic, glycolic, and salicylic acids combine for a deeply exfoliating treatment. Mix 1:3 toner to distilled water. Approx back bar cost: $4

Solution 3.) BRIGHTEN & HYDRATE Fau's Pumpkin Hydra Toner: Glutamic Acid helps draw moisture into the skin and restores its pH. Portulaca Oleracea Extract, full of vitamins A, C, & E, provide strong antioxidant properties. Mix 1:4 toner to distilled water. Approx. Backbar cost: $3

The suction and infusion vortex of the aqua peel is a powerful tool in helping to remove dirt, oil, and excess sebum. The hydroderm solutions we choose are only a part of the success of the treatment. When possible, I like to simplify the amount of products--and then ingredients--that I introduce into every treatment. If we already have, and are using, a applicable product, why not utilize it with a modality? Saves space and money, but certainly doesn't compromise quality.

*Note, we use the terms 'aqua peel' 'peeling' 'hydroderm' and 'hydrodermabrasion' interchangeably here
